Hi all,

VERY big Fire Alarm company fitted this not sooo long ago. I got a call one night because of a sounder fault, after 2 days of digging I found at least 3 of these which looked like this...

Fault: connector block had fell off!

I dont know how they dare! Needless to say, it no longer looks like this!

Hi all..

Never seen these before, they are marked Gent.

I am not sure if they are:

1) Old speakers from a Voice Alarm but there are only 2 of them in an odd place on a warehouse roof.

2) OBDs but there is no reflector or receiver..

Any ideas?! Thanks!!

Was servicing a site today, Advanced 4201 with Apollo kit. Was having trouble setting off a head in the main corridor by reception. I was using a solo wand-can; no joy after three or four squirts so thought "must be running out, I'll use my pod" & still no joy. Found the problem...

took my mountaim of batts to the tat man, had to show proof of id proof of residentence and nearly had to give DNA then he said sorry got to pay you by cheque even thou i have been going there for 20 years. still got me a new diary and a bottle of wine for the misses,country has gone bonkers need i.d. to get your tat money but any one can walk into the poxy country and claim the dole
as the man said kill someone the police may investigate drive in a bus lane 48 hours summons on your door step .....if your going to get murdered make sure its in a bus lane they may catch your killer

Hello there, i attended a site last week where the repeater which has been installed for around 2 years has suddenly started to display a power fault. now i cannot find any fault with the batteries or incoming mains. one strange thing does happen that when the mains fuse is disconnected the fault clears its as if its working opposite to what it should.

is there a setting i need to change on the menus? or is it just knackered?

i have tried the watchdog reset, it clears for a while then come back.

any help would be appreciated.

Evening Gents

Hope some can help, I am looking for an installation and programming manual for a Siemens SPC intruder alarm panel. I have tried UKPANELS but no luck and have hit a wall with Google.
Hopefully someone that does security aswell as fire can put me out of my misery

Hi all.

I have been asked to see about putting the FireFinder together to monitor sprinklers.

There is no problem with the capabilities of the C&E side, but what I am struggling to get a definitive answer on, is what needs to be on the panel front by way of indicators?

I have seen that an UTC panel has Red, Amber, Green only.
Flow/Fire, Valve Closed, Valve Open

Looking at BS EN12845:2004+A2:2009, it appears to be open to interpretation.

The customer who asked for this, said that we needed Red - Flow, Green - Flow switch normal, Amber - Valve Closed, Green - Valve Open, another indicator for 'Tamper' etc.

Does anyone have the requirements?
Like, can I use the same amber led for any fault / tamper?
Can I use just one green led to indicate the whol thing is normal?

Any info would be greatly aprreciated so that I can establish the correct boards, indicators to use in the panel

I have come across a firedex panel someone replaced and the detectors are notifier SD 651E and Apollo 65 series.
When smoked the apollo puts panel into fire but the notiifer puts it into fault .
Wondered if the notifier is compatible ?

Seasons Greetings everyone

my xmas project - trying to network 2 zp3 panels together

Does anyone have a definite list of what versions of boards, line drivers, cpu etc.. are intercompatible with each other

i have 2 versions of the RDU board one works on one but not the other and vice versa

Also

How can i as a hobbyist go about having firmware upgrades for the boards (happy to pay someone to do them).

Can anyone advise what the big connector as shown on this pic from a ziton zp3 cpu is for

i know the 2 black connectors above this are for the front panel equipment and for the expansion carrier inside the main body

The connector in quest is the big black one in the middle of the pcb on the left hand side

Does anyone have a definitive breakdown of CP colours

i know the following: -

Red - fire
Green - Door Access
Yellow - gas

but what are blue and white used for

or is there no "official" standard apart from red = fire

also

i know you can get "breakglass" and key operated call points but i am wondering what other styles you can get

im after something like a kac style plate with a black "hold" push button for a gas panel (no actual extinguishent fitted). does anyone know the type i mean

Rail passengers travelling from Bath Spa Station to London Paddington faced disruption to their journeys this morning.

A fire in an equipment room just outside Paddington closed two of the four lines into London.

First Great Western prioritised peak-time services but passengers still faced delays.

The 9.13, 10.13 and 11.13 services from Bath Spa to London Paddington were cancelled this morning.

And passengers catching trains heading out of Paddington could face problems.

Hi all hope you all have a good christmas and no call outs.
my question is about the use of a cherry keyboard on control equip panels.
Will a cherry keyboard with a PS2 connector with a PS2/5pin adapter work.
I know they sell an adapter for a normal pc keyboard but would not be able
to get one untill new year.
