Fittich MCU 304

Hi,

I have problem with fcp MCU 304 Fittich. It is Fittich but Detectomat manufactured fcp. I received all data from fcp, changed only customer text and wonted to send changed data to fire control panel and then started problem because I did not send changed data to panel. Every time when I send data to fcp and after that receive data it were different (detector where moved to different zone). I have't direct RS232 cable but have USB to serial convertor. Inside fcp is firmware version 3D_75 and because I used dpt version 5.2. Does somebody have the simular problem and how I can resolve this problem? Thanks.Huh

New extension to a school, 4 months since handover, Ziton system installed and commissioned by a well known Ziton agent.

There are eight of these throughout the new wing...

Has anyone had any dealings with this company based in Leeds.
They appear to be on a purchasing spree of small Fire Alarm & Extinguisher Companies down here in the South.[/size]

I had a good long conversation with Douglas yesterday and this subject popped up (don't ask me how we got there, but we did). I have a mate who came up with profound piece of philosophy which i have held on to and has served me well over the years. Doug liked it and so I thought I would share with the rest of you.

The general idea is this:

Most people i come across think I'm a nice guy.
I like most people.
I can talk to most people in an adult way and am happy to engage in conversation.
I am respectful to others and am shown respect in turn.
I have a good sense of humour.
Therefore, if I really don't like someone, they MUST be muppet!

I would normally replace 'Muppet' with a more venomous term!

Has anyone got a PDF version of the User Manual for ZP3 that's not badged up as Clymac. Also, data sheets on Ziton kit would be useful.

Thanks in advanced.

Updating Morley panel firmware

Hi
I look after over 30 sites with Morley systems installed, which include panels across the range.
I am in the process of checking the software versions on all the panels, my question is this-
Is there a resource available that lists all the latest versions and which ones are compatible?

Cheers

Protec 6300 "Supply Fault"

Hi all,

New member here so go easy on me please!! Quick background - I'm a qualified electrician (qualified in 2010), who mostly does work in the nightclub sector, covering CCTV, Intruder and a bit of repair work on fire systems.

This latest site I'm working at has a Protec 6300 panel, which had numerous wiring and sounder faults. Working through the site, I've fixed all the faults, and now the only thing left is a 'Supply Fault'.

I've tested the batteries, which are good, and the mains supply is ok. The customer says the fault has been present since the power to the building was off for a few days during electrical supply works. If I disconnect either the mains or the batteries the unit still works, but it insists on showing the supply fault, and the LCD backlights only work when you're in a menu.

Is there any way I can sort this, or will I have to get a Protec engineer out? I've managed to avoid it so far, fixing wiring faults and replacing detectors, and so obviously I'd rather not pay out for a visit from them if I can help it!!

Any help or suggestions would be very gratefully accepted!!

Many thanks,

Rob :)

went to a calout today to a large shopping center were the C E L network had stopped working, ok i know not best metwork by a country mile but got it working bar one panel which had not up dated the panel log of events in two years and another which had stopped working altogether. managed to get the one panel to start updating the log and sending data around the network but the other panel would work for a couple of minutes then controls freeze.
began to look for earth faults and low and behold found an earth fault which someone had removed the links on the pcb and replaced with some black plastic.
now the strange thing the loop causing the fault was a car park which was very very damp in places so broke the loop half way and went back to see which side my earth fault was on both sides? measured the cores and earth all in the 500k omh range till with the loop broken i read 3.4 ohms betwwen the pos and pos and the same between the negs
this is wired in pyro and is a mess due to other engineers not doing there job proberly and needs to be sorted out asap . just wondered if anyone had come across this before
Huh Fus Huh

Me again.

Can you get an earth fault through a connection on an input unit xp95.

I ask because I am getting intermittent earth faults. Roughly around the same time every day.

Wiring seems fine. New panel so rules that out.

Any thoughts suggestions greatly appreciated.

Some of you here may be interested in an Android app I have developed to help fire extinguisher engineers carry out their daily servicing.

It's optimized for the 7 inch tablet screen, the main reason for this being that if you are using it all day every day you're not going to want to run your phone battery down. It's available free of charge on Google Play and is also a work in progress so if anybody tries it and would like to see features added please let me know.

Cheers
A link would be handy. Long day :)

Due to our continued expansion we currently seek an engineer with across the board experience. The role incorporates aspects of Installation, Service, Maintenance and Commissioning.

Ideally candidates will have a good knowledge of conventional and addressable fire alarm systems and emergency lighting. Working knowledge of BS5839 would be beneficial.

Please send in your CV for consideration to info@naglefire.co.uk

fire shutter ups certification

is there a certification or standard to comply to for ups units used to give 240v backup to a fire shutter? something like bs, en, ce etc...

I rang the manufacturer to see if they had had it tested/approved for use as backup to a fire alarm system and they more or less said no!

the ups does bleep if there's a fault detected but there is no output fault relay which you could connect to a fire alarm interface to monitor it. the manufacturer make a mains fail relay module as an extra but nothing to monitor batteries

or does anyone know of any ups maufacturers who do fully compliant, fault monitored ups units?

i've already condemned it as it's powered from a plug and socket on a normal ring main anyway!

what's the most confusing fire alarm site you've worked on?

I'm a bit bored so I thought I'd create a new post. What's the most confusing messed up site you've been to? I mean a profusion of systems with baffling connections? here's a few of mine for a start:

1 - school - 2 x gent dropflag 240v systems with missing mcps, missing bells, twin and earth cable, faulty bells, removed bell cover by staffroom (too loud during class change!!!) exposing 240v when in alarm, burnt out resisitive mcp on 240v system, mcps with no 240v supply, adjoining leisure centre building had a cb200 panel panel with faulty corroded menvier detectors due to chlorine giving no detector removal monitoring, metal mcps corroded shut by chlorine so they couldn't be tested without breaking them, zone 1 with an isolate keyswitch adjacent panel with no buzzer which turned off all the 3 wire system and the 3 wire psu batts were connected to 'panel supply' connections instead of batteries so didn't work with mains off and had presumably been like that since installation in 1970's. oh and missing mcps at exits

2 - school with a 2 zone standalone conventional panel on ground floor entrance covering 1 classroom on 1st floor with only 1 sounder circuit so bells could only be heard in 1 classsroom and not heard at the actual control panel. elsewhere a 1 zone jsb in a cupboard covering 2 smokes and a (faulty) psui for door closers with no sounders and merely an aux link to a 240v 3 wire system which had never been heard in dining/kitchen along with the usual missing mcps at exits

3 - college with a juno, 4 other conventional panels all linked via a 24v 3 wire, no battery back-up, all 6 panels fed from 1 trip in twin and earth, 1 panel had no sounders, missing mcps at exits, low audiblity in several areas and best of all if the mains went off to the juno all panels went into alarm and all rang all their bells! which cancelled an exam once due to a power cut but they still wouldn't pay for further invetigations.

Gent Vigilon

Hi,

I've been asked to replace a working 4 loop Vigilon for a 6 loop and also add an additional device.

Is there anyway I can get a download from the 4 loop before I take it down.

I understand I'm going to have to get a Gent integrator to do the final commissioning but I just thought if I could get the 4 loops up a running it would be a help.

Thanks

Earth fault.

Still trying to locate an intermittent earth fault going on for a month since first reported. But I think I might have narrowed it down.

I have read of detectors causing earth faults. But has anybody actually had this happen.

I ask because I suspect a smoke detector xp95 is the issue . It is close to an air con unit that was leaking water at one point. When previously checked all wiring looked fine . Could it be the module condensing or rapid change of temperature affecting it.

Cheers
