UKNERD (or anyone else,) your help is required!

On your ZP3 collection, can you tell me where the two grey wires go, from what looks like a battery temperature monitor?

Do they go to a 4 way connector at top right of the motherboard, or to a two pin jumper plug at the bottom right of the motherboard?

Thanks.

Found a sprinkler system

On a take over this week of a fire system in a year old building, i found a sprinkler system.

It is a 3 storey house, sprinker to top flat only. Usually find a smoke vent system in the top flat, but not on this occasion.

Blue mains water pipe goes in to loft, then connected to flow monitor, then orange (probably cpvc) pipe to sprinkers.

No loft insulation or pipe lagging.

Flow meter connected to fire panel in flat electrical meter cupboard, tiny cupboard that houses fuse board and immersion heater - panel not on show - sounder strobe above panel in cupboard, lol, also bedhead type sounder outside cupboard.

Also fire panel fed from credit elec meter, panel was off due to no credit.

I have had a quick google at sprinkler regs/servicing - i always thought a tank was needed but obviously not (ive also read doug's info on this site)

There doesnt seem to anyway of testing flow.

Obviously client needs this to be serviced by someone, but what can i advise the client will be needed? How often will it need to be serviced? are they supposed to be doing any testing? i can't see that really.

Does the system i have described above sound about right.

I wont be servicing the system, its not my thing, but i will service the fire panel but i reckon that needs to be on show and have the sounder/strobe on the outside of the cupboard and not fed from a 20 amp mcb.

Cheers for enlightening me - never been near sprinklers before.

Hi all,

Has anyone got a template form/checklist for when you take on a new site. Almost like a check list for the engineer that they can record all the results on that you would check from the start of a maintenance contract?

Thanks for any assistance.

MCP Type

Guys,

The recommendations state:
20.2
a) The method of operation of all manual call points in a system should be that of type A as specified
in BS EN 54-11. All call points should be identical unless there is a special reason for differentiation.

How would you interrupt "All call point should be identical?"

Do you reckon the newer KAC drop down front type are "identical" to the previous model where the lid has to be removed to replace the glass?

If so, would you recommend all older style MCP's should be changed to newer drop down front MCP's if a couple are being fitted during a refurb or indeed one is replaced for a faulty older type model?

Apollo have an App for smart phones. Not a bad little app, visually helps addressing their devices when in a hurry, and has a basic guide to BS5839 Part 1, albeit 2002, not 2013 version.

Anyone else finding they have to log on to the site twice, to see posts ?

Every time I log on I get the front page, and when I click on view new posts, or private messages, I'm prompted to log in again...

Been like this for ages, and I'm wondering if its just me ?

Hello,

What material is the screen on FP200?

I thought it was Tin annealed copper(told differently today)
Is it purely down to price that it is not solid copper?

Guys,

Apologies if this has been discussed in another thread. A search failed to answer the below query.

Can low power consumption loop cards (discovery) be mixed with high power consumption loop cards (discovery) in the same panel (Zx5e)?

adt mx2 earth fault and other problems

$

morning,
we have an adt mx2 panel with an earth fault which is due to a faulty extinguishant panel linked into our system via a loop cim. We've proved this panel is the cause of the earth fault to the company responsible and we're waiting for the other company to replace it (since 12th july!).
We've had a blown psu on the 9th august which we've replaced and then 2 false alarms from 2 detectors on the 15th august. one of the detectors was in a corridor and probably just dust/dirt/disturbance but the other one is 3 weeks old and clean as a whistle but located in a very humid underground chamber with no natural ventilation. We've quoted to replace some of the higher LTA smokes and to change the detector in the underground chamber from a PH (optheat) to a CH (c.o.heat)
My question (after all this preamble!) is could an earth fault cause all this trouble? We've disconnected the faulty panel temporarily so our panel has no earth fault at present. Normally this site doesn't cause many problems and to have a blown psu and 2 false alarms within a week seems suspicious to me... Or could the new psu have disturbed things? It's the same model name (psu830) but being adt it's very slightly different from the old model as they seem to have a million different psu's for one panel.
The client wants a definite answer and won't really accept the addressable panels do crazy things sometimes explanation. Is it all just a big co-incidence?

Was wondering if the DDA Act affecting the fire alarm (beacons/ lowered callpoints etc) was mandatory for older installations?

Problem - Morley Connexion Dxc1 with Hochiki Sounder Bases

$

Morning Fellas,

I'm going up to help out a friend this morning with a new fire alarm he has just installed. As titled he has fit the new Morley Dxc1 and has used Hochiki ESP detection. He has addressed all of his devices (excluding the sounder bases YBO-BS) and performed an auto learn. He has come to test his system but his base sounders will not sound during a fire activation. He has taken a download from the panel and his detectors do have 'base sounder' ticked as appropriate. Anyone had this before? I've never worked on the Connexion range before.

Advice appreciated

Thanks
