does anyone know of a source of gent 34450 4 channel interfaces? we may need 2 to fit on a vigilon running mcc s/w v4.04 and loop card s/w v4.01 to save us upgrading the loop cards and mcc cards at the same time.

edwards 5zone fire alarm problem

hello everyone, im asking assistance in solving a problem im having with an edwards fire alarm panel...a 5 zone.

the alarm panel sounds an alarm at random but no trouble light or alarrm light registers on the panel....just the regular green light, followed by the alarm bells, i changed all the wiring to new fire wire, all new smoke detectors and problem still persists, was having the same problem with the 10 zone of the same brand of panel.....and changed it out to the present 5 zone panel and the problem still persists.....can anyone assist me in finding the problem?

Hi, i have been asked to look at the algo-tec 6200 fire alarm panel that has 3 faults on it. one is a sounder base. Can i exchange this by just using the panel? the other 2 faults are caused by a detector that is showing device fault and device removed on the same address, although the smoke works when tested, i think this may have been exchanged at some point recently looking at the log. maybe it has not been exchanged correctly?. Any advice appreicated.

Also is this a panel i can get software for or is it protec only?

So I'm in Ingerland for a wedding this weekend. Arrived at our hotel to find an id3000 with protec on the screen, and a protec panel with an i/o above it mounted beside it. Having had a good look around the place on the way to my room and the bar, the only thing the protec seems to be doing is strobes. Lots of strobes, usually mounted right beside a notifier detector/sounder base. Must be one of the most unnecessary second panel additions in history.

testing of em lighting

evening chaps

what does the bs state for testing of self contained em fittings?

I am getting conflicting info, person says a 3 hour test must be done yearly, another states its all down to there risk assessment, i.e. if customer can evacuate under an hour then an hours test is all that's needed

any suggestions/help appreciated

Hi all

Hope you are all enjoying this sunny weather.

Just need a little help/ advice regarding a Emergi-lite Eurofire panel which we have took over . There are 3 panels in 3 buildings and they are networked. but only panels 1&2 talk to each other, panel 3 does not trigger either panel 1 or 2 when call point is activated off panel 3. Checked address and baud rate all set up how it explains in manual.

Got called out to a fault on an extinguishing panel that was connected in as a zone to the main conventional fap. On closer inspection found the +ve coming in to the alarm relay C, fire off resistor across alarm relay C & NC, EOL across alarm relay N/C and fault N/O (fault relay normally energised) and the -ve coming in to the fault C. 5 points if you figure out the major mistake and a further 5 if you can tell how to correctly wire it.

Hi. This might be a simple one but the Ampac Engineer manual is useless. I'm retrofitting an old system and am getting 'multi device fault' on a couple of detectors. Is this just a double address?

Open loop fault with no devices missing

Gents,

I have a problem which is pickling my brain.

I have a Kentec Syncro with an open loop fault. However, when I remove the out leg of the loop all devices remain, so I then reconnect the out leg and disconnect the in leg of the loop and once again, all devices remain. When measuring Voltages on the end of the loop I get 24v from both ends of the loop. So I reset the panel and the fault appears within a few hours.
To then prove the panel was not at fault, I then linked +to+ and -to- within the panel (with the loop connected) and the fault does not reoccur.
I have viewed the panel history for faults, and no devices are displayed as having failed prior to the open loop fault occurring.
Whilst in fault, several MCP isolator bases are flashing red while others on the same loop do not. Also the isolator bases for the smokes do not flash.

Any suggestions would be kindly received.

mixing different apollo addressable protocls on loop

happy friday all,
is it o.k. to mix different apollo addressable detectors on the same loop? We have a site with an advanced panel and xp95 devices but I've just come across a discovery smoke. It seemed to work fine but I was under impression you should have all of 1 type e.g. discovery, xp95, xplorer etc

Another s.d. To identify

This s.d. Is connected to a smoke vent panel. I have a feeling sooner or later we'll be asked to replace it. Any idea who makes these? Apologies for the rubbish photo but it's about 30 feet above a stairwell (on the stairs) which means no ladders, no mewp and probably trying to replace it like for like with the same smoke via a solo removal tool. It's connected to a specially built carrob controls smoke vent panel.
I think from the hieroglyph circuit diagram left inside the vent panel it's a normally closed contact opening in alarm so if we did replace it with something else we could presumably use an Apollo s65 with a relay base. Weirdly enough this smoke led pulses and none of the other (different makes) of smoke on site connected to other vent panels do that. I thought maybe the pulse meant pre-alarm but looking at the circuit diagram it's nowhere near that sophisticated.

Thats about it really. I believe some guys have problems running software on new laptops.

EL activates, yet circuit hasn't failed!

I have an 8W non maintained EL fitting that today has switched on to battery, yet the lighting circuit it is wired into hasn't tripped and all the normal lights on it still work.

Any ideas?
